Cape Breton, for when the Maritimes aren't maratime enough

Cape Breton, for when the Maritimes aren't maratime enough

Day one in Cape Breton

Keegan Campbell June 17, 2018

The first day up was a drive up to Pleasant Bay at the north end of the Highlands Park. There are a few spots along away that we had to stop and take in.
The coast line of the island is breathtakingly beautiful.

Inverness beach

We stopped at inverness to walk the beach.

We took the dogs down to the beach. They had been in the car for most of the day so far.

Of course there was a nice landscape around.

I do not have much experience at landscapes, but I know that light is important and the light that day was kinda boring.

Nice, but boring.

The best pics I could get were of the waves. The new 100-400mm lens was able to grab good pictures of the waves crashing, and have short enough DOF to make the crashing stop.
Wish I had gotten one with the cliffs in the background.

Byond being cute, the dogs had a little run and play with Emily.

The Sigma 100-400 is by no means a Macro lens, but with a minimum focus distance of 1.6 it is pretty good distance to take pictures of stuff on the ground.
This means that at 400mm the DoF is really short. That can be a challenge to, meaning a ant might not all be in focus.

There were also a few birds about.

400mm on a crop sensor, leads to a pretty good reach.

Margaree

Along the cabot trail we came across this vally near Margaree.

Had a pretty little river running down it and was just covered in green. There was a cute bridge running across the river.

The dogs of course had there own opinion on the stops

Are we going yet?

Highland Park

The park is one of the prettiest places in the world.
