There is a town near by that has a little festival/event centered around the river running thought it and people paddling down it.
The main event is the “crazy crafts” were people build homemade rafts and race down the river.
The teams are timed, but I think for a good chunk of enterants getting all the way down is main goal.
Being held in April the water is pretty cold, but also flowing. Apperntly this year the water was lower, so rafts were getting stuck often.
The are also canoes and kayaks going by with at least one paddle boarder.
But soon after the rafts stared showing up. there are around 70 rafts entered, I didn’t count how many I saw. I watched for a couple hours with Mia, but she was getting pretty tired by the end, even thought she was making lots of friends.
The army entered a group in a proper raft, but they weren’t part of the race.
A coworker had entered and they were trying win and one of the first few down.
Given the type of event plenty of the rafts are decorated for fun.
or have a theme for the baot
That doesn’t always mean it works better.
As seen above some local business enter a decorated boat. Some of them are hopefully better at what ever their business does then rafting.
There some more photogenic moments from the day
